Our commitment to a sustainable future

One planet, our responsibility

At Fornella we believe that the future of tourism must be sustainable, respectful of nature and attentive to people.

With Fornella One Earth 2030 project we choose the path of change every day: reducing impact, protecting the environment, living in harmony with our surroundings. A path that is not only ours, but that we want to share with those who choose us, to transform every experience into a gesture of respect for the earth.

Green Vision

Our commitment in 13 steps:

Inform and involve you in our project

The first step is the publication of the web page you are consulting.

In addition, upon arrival you will receive a handbook with suggestions and ideas on how you can help us improve our ecological footprint and be closer to the principles of sustainability.

If you prefer not to waste paper, the same information is available on the login page of our Wi-Fi system.

Use energy efficiently.

We have installed electricity meters to monitor the consumption of the main services and technological systems separately and develop more efficient strategies for energy saving.
All night lighting is based on LED technology and we are gradually switching to LED in all accommodations and infrastructures.
Most of our mobile homes are equipped with systems to reduce electricity consumption when the customer is “out”, all air conditioning systems are heat pumps with inverter technology, the kitchens of our restaurant work with induction.

Careful use of water resources also contributes to reducing energy consumption for the treatment and heating of sanitary water. We have planned the gradual replacement of all appliances with more efficient equipment (class A+ or higher).

Promote the use of sustainable energy sources

In 2020 we installed a new photovoltaic system with a power of 90 kWh divided into two sections and we purchase only energy produced from renewable and certified sources.

We are currently realizing a further extension of the photovoltaic system.

Our new sanitary facilities on the pitch are autonomous for the production of domestic hot water through the use of solar thermal energy.

Reduce air pollution

We are planning the progressive conversion of thermal systems connected to the main service groups to electric heat pump systems; the first system entered into operation in April 2022.

An electric shuttle bus will soon be available for transporting customers.

We have replaced most of the petrol/diesel garden equipment with electric equipment.

Avoid soil and water pollution

All wastewater from the structure is conveyed into the consortium sewer network to protect Lake Garda; our pumping stations have recently been equipped with containment tanks capable of coping with any plant shutdowns, avoiding sewage spills.

We promote the use of ecological products for camper and caravan toilet cassettes; our camper service is however equipped with a watertight tank whose content is periodically sent to highly specialized treatment plants.

Weed control takes place without the use of chemical products through the use of special equipment with high-temperature steam production. Our water is very soft (hardness 12°F). You can reduce the amount of detergent you use while still getting the result you want.

Water Saving

We have equipped all main water supply lines with meters to monitor the consumption of the main services and systems and promptly identify any leaks.

All showers are equipped with low-consumption heads; we are reviewing water management procedures in our swimming pools and cleaning procedures to reduce unnecessary water use.

We have applied rain sensors to all irrigation systems and increased the frequency of checks on the aqueduct to avoid leaks and excessive pressure values in the systems.

Reduce waste production and optimize resource use

We ask you to separate your waste according to the indications you will find on site; we provide containers for differentiation in all our mobile homes and glamping units.
For pitch users, we provide colored bags for waste separation.
All waste must be taken to the ecological island where our staff on duty is available to help you separate correctly. Bulky waste, electrical equipment, iron and wood are collected separately and given to certified bodies for recycling.
A “water house” has been installed near the market to reduce the use of plastic containers and the environmental impact caused by the transport chain.
We do our best to develop low environmental impact recycling strategies also in our internal production cycles; all wood from green maintenance is chipped and reused for mulching flowerbeds.
We will soon be “plastic free” and we are reviewing the product offer at the restaurant and market to avoid waste and excessive waste production.
Our offices use only recycled or FSC certified paper and all paper information material is printed on recycled or certified paper with low environmental impact printing processes.

Design the Campsite in harmony with Nature and promote Biodiversity

We have implemented, with the help of specialized agronomists and biologists, a maintenance and planting program to promote biodiversity and protect microhabitats and local ecosystems. We are experimenting with selective cutting of lawn areas to increase biodiversity and the balance of micro systems, with the prospect of expanding the system. We have installed artificial nests and modified our pruning programs to encourage natural nesting. We are implementing a planting program of Mediterranean essences, with lower water needs, and we cultivate a small garden of aromatic herbs for customer use. We have created 2 flower meadows to create micro ecosystems favorable to bees and insects and identified wooded areas within the complex where natural forest regeneration is encouraged. Of course, we continue to keep our tree registry up to date to expand biodiversity and guarantee safety with regular checks.

Many nature friendly activities have been added to our leisure and entertainment programs both for children and adults… come and discover new proposals... Nature labs, walks and trekking for the whole family, MTB and SUP excursions, yoga lessons, sustainable food and drink experiences and more.

Promote sustainable mobility

Given the scarcity of available collective connections, we focused on charging stations for electric vehicles. We rent mountain bikes, e-bikes and SUPs, and promote the use of public lake transport to discover the villages and the most evocative corners of the lake.
We are developing a partnership to offer electric boats for hire and allow you to explore the lake at a more sustainable pace.

A new electric shuttle bus will soon be available for customer transport.

Prefer

Most of our service and product suppliers are local; our employees, when possible, are selected from residents in San Felice or neighboring municipalities. In our market and restaurant we promote local agricultural products and we are working to offer a range of sustainable options.

Use of Eco-friendly cleaning products and elimination of dangerous or harmful substances

We are committed to eliminating harmful substances from our production cycles and where these are necessary to meet legal requirements we ensure that they are used professionally, handled and disposed of according to all regulations and requirements.
We are experimenting with new procedures and have chosen a range of eco-sustainable cleaning products; we will start using them as soon as we are certain of the quality of the results obtained. Obviously your safety and prevention have priority!

Social responsibility

We are working on an environmental awareness project with local schools.
