Our commitment to a sustainable future

One planet, our responsibility

At Fornella camping & wellness family resort, we believe that the future of tourism must be sustainable, respectful of nature, and mindful of people. A single responsibility: taking care of it. To achieve concrete results, we rely on the Ecocamping certification and compliance with its strict guidelines, and we adhere to the principles set out in our sustainability policy.

Our initiatives to go one step further beyond certification …..

The development of the Fornella One Earth 2030 project, winner of the ADAC Camping Awards 2024 in the "Sustainability and environmental awareness" category, allows us to experiment every day in the direction of change: reducing impact, protecting the environment, and living in harmony with our surroundings.

Greenky Approved

We present the “Greenky approved” project, an idea born to promote a sustainable consumption style through a selection of low environmental impact, certified, or locally sourced products and services. At the heart of the initiative is the Greenky Card, handed to guests upon arrival, which becomes a practical tool to encourage responsible choices.

Every “Greenky” purchase is rewarded with a stamp on the card, turning the guest's experience into an active journey of contribution to environmental protection. Upon completing the card with all the stamps, guests will be rewarded with a free gift.

The initiative thus combines sustainability, local enhancement, and direct involvement, reinforcing a shared mission oriented towards safeguarding the region and spreading more conscious behaviors.

Bee It

We enthusiastically joined Bee it, a project that fascinated us from the very beginning due to its mission to protect the environment. You can find and purchase the products of this line at our Market and Spa & Wellness.

Why “Bee It”?

By choosing these products, you not only take care of yourself, but you also directly contribute to the protection of bees and the safeguarding of biodiversity. A small gesture that makes a big difference for our ecosystem.

Fun fact: Did you know that Bee it donates part of the proceeds to the creation of bee oases? Come visit us to discover the entire range!

Green Vision

Our commitment in 13 steps:

Informing you and involving you in our project

The first step is the publication of the webpage you are currently viewing.

If we have sparked your curiosity, the reception will be delighted to involve you in our project, offering useful tips and information to make your holiday even more sustainable.

To encourage greater awareness, we transparently share the main data regarding our consumption, inviting you to collaborate with us to reduce it. Through our entertainment and animation programs, we promote activities in direct contact with nature, enhancing the knowledge of the local area, its sustainable enjoyment, and the protection of natural resources.

Help us improve!

Contact us

Using energy efficiently

We have installed electricity meters to separately monitor the consumption of key services and technological systems, allowing us to develop increasingly effective energy-saving strategies.
All outdoor lighting is based on LED technology, and we are progressively reaching the goal of 100% LED across all accommodations and infrastructure.
Our mobile homes are equipped with systems that reduce electricity consumption when guests are away; these are monitored in real time via meters connected to the property management system.
All air conditioning systems use heat pumps with inverter technology, while the restaurant kitchens are induction-powered.
The careful use and reuse of water resources help reduce energy consumption linked to the treatment and heating of domestic hot water.
We have planned the gradual replacement of all domestic appliances with more efficient equipment (Class A+ or higher).

Promote the use of sustainable energy sources

We have a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 300 kWh, which meets over 20% of our energy needs.
We participate in the "Mille Soli" Renewable Energy Community (REC), which guarantees the efficient use of energy produced from renewable sources at a local level, with positive impacts on both producers and consumers.
We only purchase electricity from renewable sources on the market, certified by a Guarantee of Origin (GO), which attests to its actual source.
60% of our sanitary facilities on pitches are self-sufficient in producing domestic hot water thanks to the use of solar thermal panels.
The Ecolodge housing units of the “Fornella one earth 2030” project, winner of the ADAC award 2024 for sustainability and environmental awareness, are equipped with photovoltaic solar panels with a capacity of 8.2 kWp each, making them energy self-sufficient.

Reduce air pollution

We have planned the progressive conversion of the heating systems in our main toilet blocks to electric heat pump systems.
The highest-impact system, based on diesel burners, was dismantled and replaced in 2025; we are therefore free from fossil-fuel heating oils.
Inside the resort, we use electric vehicles for our technical staff to get around, with the exception of a few heavy machinery vehicles.
We are replacing our petrol/diesel gardening equipment with electric alternatives. Currently, we have completed 65% of this process and have reduced the use of the remaining polluting machinery to the bare minimum.
We are introducing satellite-guided robots for the scheduled mowing of the lawns around the swimming pools.

Avoid soil and water pollution

All wastewater from the resort is channeled into the public sewage network to protect Lake Garda.
Our pumping stations have recently been equipped with containment tanks capable of handling any plant downtime for up to 24 hours, preventing accidental wastewater spills.
All water treatment products are safely stored with containment tanks for potential leaks.
We only use EU Ecolabel certified products for cleaning processes.
We promote the use of certified ecological, formaldehyde-free products for the toilet cassettes of camping vehicles, which are automatically distributed by our cassette washing machines.
Our water is very soft (hardness 12°F); you can reduce the amount of detergent you use while still getting the result you want.
Washing machines and dishwashers available to the public are programmed for maximum energy efficiency and automatically dose EU Ecolabel certified detergents.
Our camper service is equipped with a watertight tank, the contents of which are periodically sent to highly specialized treatment plants.
Non-invasive weed control is carried out without the use of synthetic herbicides, and “pest control” operations are controlled, recorded, and reduced to strictly necessary levels, utilizing non-polluting mechanical and acoustic systems wherever possible.

Water saving

We have equipped all main water supply lines with meters to monitor the consumption of key services and systems and to promptly identify any leaks.
We have fitted rain sensors to all irrigation systems.
All water outlets (sinks and showers) are equipped with low-consumption showerheads and aerators - 6/8 Liters per Minute.
The water from our swimming pool filter backwashes supplies the irrigation system of the neighboring farm and the gardens of the Ecolodges.
Staff in the maintenance and cleaning departments are specifically trained to optimize water consumption during routine activities.
95% of the water we use does not rely on the public supply; it is drawn from the lake, purified, and distributed through our own water supply network.

Reduce waste production

We ask you to separate your waste according to the instructions you will find on site; we provide sorting bins in all our mobile homes and glamping units.
We provide colored bags for waste separation to guests on the pitches.
All waste must be taken to the ecological island (waste sorting area), where our staff on duty is available to help you separate it correctly. Bulky waste, electrical equipment, iron, and wood are collected separately and handed over to certified bodies for recycling.
A “water house” (water dispenser) has been installed near the market to reduce the use of plastic containers and the environmental impact caused by the transport chain.
We do our best to develop low environmental impact recycling strategies even in our internal production cycles. All wood from green maintenance is chipped and reused for mulching the flowerbeds.
We will soon be “plastic-free” and are reviewing the product offering at the restaurant and market to avoid waste and excessive waste production.
Our offices exclusively use recycled or FSC-certified paper, and all printed information material is printed on recycled or certified paper using low environmental impact printing processes.

Designing the Campsite in harmony with Nature and promoting Biodiversity

With the help of specialized agronomists and biologists, we have implemented a maintenance and planting program to promote biodiversity and protect local microhabitats and ecosystems.
We are experimenting with selective mowing of lawn areas to increase biodiversity and the balance of microsystems.
We schedule pruning to encourage natural nesting.
We are implementing a planting program of Mediterranean species that require less water.
Following the “food forest” principle, we have included 39 varieties of edible plants in the resort's ornamental vegetation.
We cultivate a small herb garden for our guests to use.
80% of the resort's surface area is permeable, promoting natural drainage and the proper runoff of rainwater.
Our flower meadows create micro-ecosystems favorable to bees and pollinating insects.
We participate in “Bee it”, a project that fascinated us from the start with its environmental protection mission. Part of the proceeds directly contributes to the protection of bees and the safeguarding of biodiversity.
Within the resort, we have identified rewilding areas where we encourage the natural regeneration of the forest and the un-anthropized natural environment.

Consider nature and the environment in leisure activities

Many eco-sustainable activities have been added to our animation and entertainment programs for both adults and children.
We organize workshops in direct contact with nature, featuring eco-educational walks and trekking designed for the family.
We promote mountain bike, e-bike, and SUP excursions.
We have scheduled weekly yoga classes to relax in nature.
We cultivate a small herb garden for our guests to use.
Tastings of local products and much more.
Awareness activities organized at our farm.

Promote sustainable mobility

Given the scarcity of available collective connections, we focused on charging stations for electric vehicles. We rent mountain bikes, e-bikes and SUPs, and promote the use of public lake transport to discover the villages and the most evocative corners of the lake.
We are developing a partnership to offer electric boats for hire and allow you to explore the lake at a more sustainable pace.

A new electric shuttle bus will soon be available for customer transport.

Prefer

Most of our service and product suppliers are local; our employees, when possible, are selected from residents in San Felice or neighboring municipalities. In our market and restaurant we promote local agricultural products and we are working to offer a range of sustainable options.

Use of Eco-friendly cleaning products and elimination of dangerous or harmful substances

We are committed to eliminating harmful substances from our production cycles and where these are necessary to meet legal requirements we ensure that they are used professionally, handled and disposed of according to all regulations and requirements.
We are experimenting with new procedures and have chosen a range of eco-sustainable cleaning products; we will start using them as soon as we are certain of the quality of the results obtained. Obviously your safety and prevention have priority!

Social responsibility

We are working on an environmental awareness project with local schools.

My favourite place We had a truly pleasant stay at this campsite: surrounded by nature, well kept and perfect for relaxing and getting away from the daily routine. The pitches are well organised and the facilities always clean, a sign of great attention to guests. A special thanks goes to the on-site supermarket, where I found not only well-stocked products, but above all wonderful people. In particular, Federica and Gabriella stood out for their kindness, helpfulness and professionalism: always smiling, ready to help and to advise with great courtesy. It is rare to find such genuine hospitality, which truly makes the difference in the overall experience. We will definitely return, thanks again!❤️

Fun family weekend We stayed at Fornella for a short break in the Emotion cabin. It was wonderful. From the moment we arrived everything was perfect. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The cabin was super clean. Not a thing out of place! It is not high season now so it was quiet and lots of space at the pool to play. We will be back next year! This is the second time we have been and I highly recommend it for all ages. The restaurant was fabulous too, with a stunning view of the lake and the Rocca di Manerba.
